The beautiful medieval city of Citta di Castello is only 10 minutes' drive from La Foce.

Monterchi is a few minutes’ drive from La Foce. It is home to the Madonna del Parto in its excellent museum, and has bars, a supermarket, restaurants and shops.

Citta di Castello is ten minutes in the other direction. Like Sansepolcro and Arezzo which are also within easy reach, it has a wonderful square, galleries, many excellent restaurants, fine churches and shopping.

Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Cortona and Gubbio are within an hour’s drive. Siena, Urbino and Spoleto are an hour and a half away. Trains from Arezzo go to Florence (40 mins) and Rome (75 mins).

Montepulciano, Montalcino, Citta della Pieve and Chiusi, beyond Lake Trasimeno, are also worth visiting.

There is riding and golf at Caldese, near the house, and tennis in Monterchi.
